4Great RecorderMar 04, 2010
Own this model for a couple of years. Never had any problems recording or playing DVDs. Mine is set to record off of a cable box and also from a VCR unit. Re-recording my old VHS tapes onto blank DVDs and never had a problem. The picture quality is very good.

4What's the real price?Feb 16, 2010
I am researching DVD recorders and found what I think is the same unit at BestBuy for $120. Why would it be nearly half the price as on Amazon? BestBuy has it as a model D-R410 (dash added).

5Great Unit-Great PriceDec 28, 2009
Am so pleased with this unit-have changed out of a Sony burner that is apparently decided to not find a signal from any source. This is a great option and addition to our system. We have 2 Sony DVD changers which are great space savers and play our prerecorded movies that feed through this unit. Having this single player in the system has covered the one flaw in the Sony Changers-playing 2 sided discs. All two sided disks now get played on this unit and has allowed us to reconfigure out video colection. Great Price doesn't hurt either!!! Thanks Guys!!!

1A piece of JunkNov 21, 2009
I purchased this dvd recorder at Best Buy on July 7, 2009. I used it that first week to record about 30 minutes of stuff off my Comcast DVR. Worked kind of slow, but the quality was decent and I liked the one touch record button. Used it strictly to view DVDs from that point until this week (11-20-09). Went to record a couple of programs, and the sound didn't record, only the picture. I tried several different discs, all wasted with recorded picture and no sound. I hauled out the warranty, and imagine my shock when I saw it was for 90 DAYS! Yes, parts and labor, 90 DAYS! That's it. The Canadian warranty is for one year. Here in the US, a lousy 3 months. Thankfully I had purchased an extended warranty from Best Buy. Took it in today, they will of course opt to repair the crappy thing rather than replace it, so who knows if it will work when I get it back, which they said would be from 3-5 weeks. Lovely. A 4 month old machine, and already junk. Stay away from this thing unless you don't mind buying a new one every few months. Toshiba used to be a very respected name in electonics and computers, but apparantely they have decided to build junk now and rely on their former reputation.

5Pleased as can beNov 11, 2009
I have had the Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS for 3-4 months now. I am very pleased with this product. I have dubbed about 20 VHS to DVD and recorded programs from my cable box to VHS & DVD. I have been very pleased with the ease of use and quality of the recordings. It is important to follow the directions in the manual carefully on page 50 & 51 for DVD/VCR Dubbing and page 32 on "Finalizing". The first couple I attemted to Dub, I had difficulty with until I closely followed the steps on those pages. Once I got the hang of it, it's a breeze. To make multiple copies of VHS home movies on DVD to share with family, it is much faster to dub the VHS to a finalized DVD, then copy the finalized DVD on the computer from my internal DVD drive to an external DVD drive. This method takes only a matter of minutes. Thus far, I could not be more satisfied with this product. I am glad I made the purchase and have successfully been able to convert my home movies to DVD for sharing as well being able to preserve some old favorite recorded VHS programs.
