Description:

For a truly cinematic home theater viewing experience, Samsung's new third-generation Blu-ray Disc player offers full compatibility with 24 movie frames per second playback. Since most movies are filmed at 24 frames per second, these new Samsung Blu-ray players will be able to playback movies in their native format, significantly reducing unwanted artifacts. Setting the player's Movie Frame (24Fs) feature to ON allows the consumer to adjust the HDMI 1.3 output to 24 frames per second for a crisp, theater-like experience. Each of these players will also support 60Fs for enhanced compatibility with many of today's HDTVs. For those with extensive DVD collections, the BD-P1400 model includes backward compatibility with standard DVD and CD formats (including DVD-ROM, DVD-+/R, DVD-+/RW, CD, CD-R and CD-RW). Playback of multimedia content in a variety of different formats is quick and easy at 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions. The Easy Top Menu allows consumers to change font and color of subtitles and menu titles according to their tastes, as well as the background color and menu graphics.

1Junk . . .Aug 01, 2010
I've owned this player for a couple of years and it is a complete piece of junk. It is slow, it automatically turns on and changes the channel when you are trying to watch t.v. and updating the firmware is a huge hassle. On any given day, you'll sit down to watch a program only to find that the player won't work. The firmware update is so finicky that it will eat up your night trying to update it.

Stay away!

1Don't Get ItJul 12, 2010
I purchased this player as a package deal with my LCD TV 2 years ago. Since the beginning it takes forever to load and the picture drags and blurs with action. When Avatar came out, Samsung posted a software upgrade and it did improve the picture performance greatly. Recently I purchased Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief. When playing, every time a scene changes, up pops a time line showing the scene length, the movie length and a captured picture from the scene. I returned my first disc for a 2nd and the same thing happened. I called the Fox helpline and they said there were no issues with the disc. I called Samsung, the person on the helpline was useless. Told me to perform the software update I already had. Told me to do a factory reset, which I did. Nothing worked. I emailed the helpline and again they just told me to do a player reset and if that didn't work, the player needed service. All of my other bluray discs play just fine. The issue is that Samsung is not keeping up with their firmware upgrades and their helpdesk is useless. Get another brand.

1Won't play newer blu-ray discs.Jan 09, 2010
I bought two of these units when they first came out (2007?). Firmware up to date (through network connection) but now wont play any newer blu-ray discs (such as "Bruno" or "Taking Woodstock"). No problem playing older blu-ray discs. Samsung not respond to email. I will never buy Samsung again.
Update: Samsung emailed me to suggest I reset the unit (which I had done numerous times) or just wait for the next update!

2This device is NOT worth the packagingNov 30, 2009
I have had nothing but trouble with this unit since I purchased it and it only gets worse with time. I was finally able to get a firmware upgrade from Samsung for the 1400 after months of being unable to watch anything new. Now that I have upgraded the firmware, I CANNOT WATCH ANYTHING OLD!!!! I just installed the 090803 firmware upgrade and I am ONLY able to watch bluray discs. Everything else gets spit out as unable to be played. Even when it works, it takes forever to load movies and often just stops in the middle of a movie. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT. From what I have read, it is better to just buy a PS3.

1Avoid! Waste of money!Nov 01, 2009
I've had this player for about 18 months and wish I'd never bought it. It has brought me nothing but headaches. BR discs load really sloooooowly, if at all. Then, once it plays, the disc frequently stops and skips. Firmware is impossible to update, and then the disc still won't play! I've spent an hour tonight trying to play Drag Me to Hell and it won't play. The firmware is up-to-date but it keeps saying "Loading." It never plays. I've had this problem before and hoped a firmware upgrade would help. It didn't biggest waste of money. Avoid this product at all costs!
